The Drupal Israel community needed a modern and advanced website to replace the old platform and introduce cutting-edge technologies to the local community. The main goal was to create a platform that would serve both as a central knowledge hub and as a technological showcase.

Core Technologies

The new site was built on Drupal 11, the newest and most advanced version of Drupal. It integrates an AI Chatbot powered by OpenAI and LiteLLM, a semantic search engine combining Elasticsearch with the Milvus vector database, and Drupal Canvas for flexible visual page building.

Advanced Architecture

The architecture was designed with Single Directory Components (SDC) for modular design, custom modules tailored to project needs, and advanced optimization including AVIF/WebP image formats, Valkey caching, and high-performance tuning.

Design and User Experience

The design is based on Bootstrap 5 for a modern responsive layout, with full RTL support for Hebrew, smooth animations using WOW.js and ScrollCue, and interactive elements such as VenoBox and Swiffy Slider.

Looking ahead, the roadmap includes expanded AI capabilities, additional PWA features, headless capabilities through advanced APIs, and more community tools to strengthen interaction and collaboration.
